How do I create an account?
Click "Sign up" in the top right corner and enter your Virginia Tech email address. You'll receive a verification email to complete your registration.
Is UniportVA only for Virginia Tech students?
Yes, UniportVA is designed specifically for Virginia Tech students. You'll need a valid VT email address to create an account.
Finding Rides
How do I find a ride?
Click "I Need a Ride" on the homepage to browse available trips. You can filter by date, destination, and price. Once you find a suitable ride, click "Book Seat" to reserve your spot.
How do I pay for my ride?
Payment is handled securely through Stripe. You'll be charged when you book your seat. Drivers receive payment after the trip is completed.
Can I cancel my ride booking?
Yes, you can cancel your booking up to 2 hours before the scheduled departure time. Cancellations made within 2 hours may incur a cancellation fee.
Offering Rides
How do I post a ride?
Click "I'm Driving" on the homepage and fill out the trip details including departure time, destination, number of seats, and price per seat.
How much should I charge for a ride?
Pricing is up to you, but consider gas costs and wear on your vehicle. Most rides between Northern Virginia and Blacksburg range from $15-25 per seat.
When do I get paid?
You'll receive payment after the trip is completed and riders have confirmed their arrival. Payments are processed through Stripe and typically appear in your account within 1-2 business days.
Item Delivery
How does item delivery work?
Click "Send Forgotten Items" to post items you need delivered or browse items others need transported. This is perfect for textbooks, laptops, or other essentials left behind.
What items can be delivered?
Most personal items are allowed, but please avoid anything illegal, dangerous, or perishable. Use common sense and be respectful of drivers' vehicles.
Safety & Trust
How do I know drivers and riders are trustworthy?
All users must verify their Virginia Tech email address. We also have a rating system where users can rate each other after trips. Always meet in public places and trust your instincts.
What should I do if I have a problem with a ride?
Contact us immediately if you encounter any issues. We take safety seriously and will investigate all reports. Use the contact information below to reach our support team.
Account Management
How do I update my profile?
Click on your name in the top right corner and select "Manage account" to update your profile information, payment methods, and preferences.
How do I change my password?
Go to "Manage account" and look for the password change option. You'll need to enter your current password and create a new one.
